General Discussion / Elk event driver
« on: January 09, 2014, 08:29:57 pm »
Wondering if there is any interest in an Elk event logging driver.  My thought is for a driver that records Elk events and stores then in sql server in real time. I personally would like zone historical data and durations of zone states in the various modes. The current method of polling and logging States is not working for me.

General Discussion / Help with motion scene
« on: January 09, 2014, 08:25:45 pm »
Trying to think of a nice motion scene for my family room.  I want to make a scene/program that will decrease light timeouts based on the number of motion events and increase timeouts if there hasn't been any motion. Any ideas? I am trying to get away from a static timeout.

Elve Version 2.0 Beta (Closed) / v2.0 release date?
« on: December 30, 2013, 04:59:22 pm »
Haven't heard any v2.0 updates in a while. Probably hard at work fixing any remaining bugs for a perfect release...   :) Is there an ETA for v2.0? Also, if this is the end of the product life cycle please let us know! Knowing if the product will be supported or not will make a difference in how we move forward with our automation setups. Thanks!

General Discussion / Tasker/Autoremote and Elve
« on: December 19, 2013, 03:19:45 pm »
Probably a little late to the game with this, but autoremote is awesome with Elve. I have just started playing around with it recently and it really adds an interesting dimension to my setup. Autoremote is a tasker plugin used to automate android phones. For example I have a movie scene that tunes my TV to my xbmc server. With autoremote I have the Elve scene wake my phone and launch yaste when the scene is triggered. Anyone already using this or any cool ideas to integrate with Elve?

General Discussion / NFC anyone?
« on: November 06, 2013, 07:01:27 pm »
Been playing around with NFC lately. The white stickers I got on eBay were pretty much invisible when placed on a white surface, which made it easy for me to place them in various locations without irritating the wife. Very inexpensive, less than $1 per sticker for the pack I got. It also integrated with Elve easily. I used 'Trigger' (in Play store) to run a Tasker task, which controlled the Elve scene. Been nice being able to quickly launch scenes without needing to open any apps. One of my favorites is a backyard music scene. The trigger by our seating area will start the stereo up and music playing, but then will also open the controlling android app as well (something ELve mobile cannot do currently but Tasker can). Anyone using NFC with Elve? Any interesting applications?

General Discussion / Ideas to bypass welcome screen in Win 8
« on: October 23, 2013, 04:47:35 pm »
My main server is also my HTPC. I am running XBMC on it for the front end. I am having a problem that if I remote desktop into this pc then the welcome screen is displayed on my HTPC and won't go away until I log in. Too much hassle. Trying to automate a way to steal focus back once I terminate the remote session. I came across this cmd line code, which works perfectly:
Code: [Select]
tscon.exe 1 /dest:console
The problem is I can't automate that command's execution. It has to be run as admin to work. I have tried:
1.) Making a BAT file and setting it as the target of a desktop application device. Running .StartApplication does nothing.
2.) Making a shortcut to the BAT file and ticking 'Run as administrator', and setting the shortcut as the target of the desktop application device.
3.) Tried using Event Ghost to run the BAT, but that failed as well. Nothing happens when executing.
Any thoughts to solve this issue? The desired end result is a scene that will steal focus back if lost from RDP...

General Discussion / Forwarding Port 33907 - Secure?
« on: October 23, 2013, 04:32:50 pm »
Anyone know if there are any security concerns to forwarding port 33907 outside your lan? I had been doing it for a while to run elve mobile when away from home. Then I got a new router that supported PPTP VPN so I switched to that. But now its getting old going to phone settings, selecting vpn, clicking connect, waiting to connect, etc... to do something quick in mobile, like open the garage door. So now I am thinking about going back, but was wondering about security. Any thoughts?

Feature Requests / Select case in scripting
« on: May 14, 2013, 12:14:27 pm »
Requesting to add select case to scripting. I think it is easier to read than a bunch of 'if' statements and reduces redundancy/clutter. If this is denied could you instead add  'else if'?

Feature Requests / Elk chime modes
« on: May 10, 2013, 11:20:30 pm »
Requesting to add ability to change/cycle chime modes to elk driver.
I am not sure if you can directly set the chime mode, but you can cycle it using kf[Keypad]C00.
Ex. Cycle keypad 2 chime modes : kf02C00.

Resolved Bugs / Elk driver send raw command
« on: May 10, 2013, 11:16:25 pm »
The 2 character command code in this method adds quotations to the command code.
ex. Requesting keypad area assignment sends 0A"ka"0000BF instead of 06ka006E.

General Discussion / Transparent images [SOLVED]
« on: April 22, 2013, 02:06:14 pm »
I am not much of a graphics guy. I am working on a status icon for a screen set and have two controls. The first is a icon of a garage. Then behind it I have a label with a solid background behind it in green 50% opacity, indicating zone secure.

Then I added a property change event to the label control to show red when the zone was violated, but either the label jumped forward or the label lost its opacity.

I don't see a way to control label opacity directly, so I figured I'd change to an image list control. So The image list control works fine, but I don't know how to make a semi-transparent fill. Any suggestions using photoshop or gimp to make a solid fill image and then set it to 50% opacity? Thanks

General Discussion / What are you using for music?
« on: April 13, 2013, 04:14:56 pm »
I have been a Logitech media server user for some time now. The Elve driver has definite limitations. One area is listing/controlling internet stations, some cover art issues, and also browsing/controlling Pandora. Right note I have to use the squeezebox app to load the station in Pandora and then control playback from Elve. What are you using for music? I am definitely interested in Pandora control. What do you like/dislike? I would definitely recommend a driver update for squeeze server. I have seen other HA solutions that can do all of the above with their Logitech media server driver.

Bug Reports / Logitech media server special characters in title

Playing a song and noticed that the apostrophe was displayed as the character code instead of the character. See image below.
Thank you.

General Discussion / Stick N Find

Received mine in the mail today. Looking forward to integrating these Bluetooth proximity stickers into my Elve setup. I will play with them a little bit later as I am at work and the android app had not been released yet. Iphone app is available now.  :(
