Device Configuration / Re: Anyone still here?? Need Zwave help

Same here. I am looking at other options like HomeSeer or CQC but the cost and poorly documented information regarding what's included is holding he back.  The only issue I have with Elve is that the weather underground driver stopped working a number of months ago.

I haven't tried that yet only because I just moved and I can't find my installer stick for the zwave network.
Was hoping the VRC0P held the config but it's looking like it doesn't.
Gonna have to go digging in my storage unit I guess....

I don't see any reason to stop using Elve! Still just works.

Just based on the error, it looks like a communication problem between the controller and the device.  Have you tried unlink and relink them (or whatever the z-wave term is).  I haven't used the z-wave driver so I'm probably not much help.

Good to know I'm not the only one still using Elve though!

Not using my Omni Pro anymore and am trying to get the Elve Zwave driver going.
In the device properties, for battery level, lock state, and all thermostat entries I get this error:
Error: OverflowException: Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow.

And this in the log:

I miss the IOS app also. I have continued to use Elve on my desktop computer (gratified that it still works with W10.

Agreed, I have iPads that I won't update as a result of this.

Nicely said Bob, I agree with you in all aspects.
Would be great to get the IOS app up and running again also as it is a huge part of the system.

John,

None of those issue sound terribly difficult when looked at individually. Reviewing the licensing is obviously time consuming so possibly a small group of us could split the work and take that off your plate.  All we'd need is the open source license (or licenses) that you'd be comfortable with and access to the source.   Github does allow for private repositories (although that does have a monthly cost) where you could control who has access.  I'm not sure if there are other similar hosting services, maybe someone else has a suggestion.  I'd be willing to host a git repository with limited access if need be.

Updating to support newer Visual Studio is something that could happen after the code is released.  Current build requirements are good whatever they are.

One of the advantages of open source is the ability for more people to review and fix security issues if they exist.  Right now anyone using Elve is vulnerable to any security issues with no recourse to get them fixed.

I can understand your reluctance to hand over any control of something you put so much effort into. I'd feel the same way.

Bob

An analysis of the code and various open source licenses would need to take place to ensure there are not conflicts with open source licenses.

Additionally I think a few drivers which require 3rd party installations would need to be removed... possibly just JR Media Center  Active Home SDK.

Modifications might also be needed to get it to compile in more recent versions of visual studio and .net libraries.

Releasing the source could also expose any "potential" security vulnerabilities.

General Discussion / Re: Alexa and or IFTTT Integration

Cool. Thanks for that info. I will look into the RZCOP. I don't know if this helps but i find its easier with Alexa to send the commands directly to the M1 and bypass Elve. Its simple to do with the bridge just let me know if you want to know how to do it.
Whole house audio would be interesting.. I currently have a raspberry pi set up as a airplay receiver with the Aux out sent to my amp, the audio out from this then runs out to my M1 through a series of outputs that allow me to turn on and off speakers as I wish. I also added this to Alexa and I can ask her to "turn on  or off the outdoor speaker" etc (also controllable by Elve). I did think about using the Dot because it has an Aux out for this purpose. I think its going to be difficult with the Echo as it has no aux out or Bluetooth out :(
I'd be interested in the Squeezserver skill if it came out
