Avatar, Signature, and Website profile field policy changes
« on: September 02, 2010, 12:25:54 pm »
Due to a recent influx of SPAM attacks on the forum:

Special profile fields such as avatar, signature and website are no longer accessible to the 'Newbie' user group.

Users affiliated with an automation related product, service, or company must disclose which product, service, or company they are affiliated with in their signature before posting in public or private areas of the forum.

Users must be granted explicit permission by the forum moderators before posting advertisements in public or privates areas of the forum unless posting in an area designated for this purpose.

Thank you for your cooperation.

I think there has been some confusion. We manage the forum, not the ISP. We have recently had several spam attacks on the board and some fake user accounts were set up for the sole intent on advertising vulgar websites. Because of this we are now requiring that users make a few posts before they can set their signature, avatar, or website profile field.

This is fairly common practice.
